today was reallllllly slack. but it ended off with a bang. not the happy sort, though. but not really sad either. just. bad.
woke up at 5pm. not technically, but by the time i was REALLY awake it was about there. which marks one of the slackest absolutely most slack days of my army life :) actually got out of bed at 10am, dazed and stoned for a while or so and bought some canteen food. ate, went back to sleep. no lunch or breakfast either. sigh was kinda hungry. but read my magazines, played with my phone on and off, listened to electrico (they're great) and snoozed even more. skipped obstacle course training (finally, both my guys passed. with fast times too); didn't even lift a finger. went down for dinner and some really crappy cny celebration after that.
boy, the dragon dance was such a drag. it was good, fascinating maybe. but it ended up being such a repetitive bore that we were talking about the lone girl in the team playing the cymbals; was she chio? not really, but in the pathetic world that is the army she was acceptable. maybe even lovely, perhaps. the lion dance was pretty amusing, but kind of a drag too. the lion was shooting oranges and crap everywhere. i'm really too lazy to describe in detail. then had some yu shen toss up which was really sad (3 people to a huge plate. where's the festive spirit in that?!).
after cleaning up, returned to bunk to find some wonderful news. my mg team with all its many troubles and woes have been activated for 4NTM. which is really short for '4hours notice to move'. so i'm staying back in camp, whilst everyone has already booked out to collect my pager tomorrow from s1 branch. and singapore happens to get bombed, or some guy gets really bored and punches this big red button, we'll all come running back, draw our guns grenades ammo bombs and whatnots. just like a real war.
the encik was asking me if i knew what the standard items to pack were. of course - one plane ticket out of singapore. i mean, everyone knows that.
thinking of watching electrico at rogue this friday. if you happened to hear the various bands of our local indie rock scene, you'd realise that they play really weird music. think radiohead cum smashing pumpkins mixed with a dash of pop roc, green day or sum 41.
still thinking whether i should go down to borders or go for a swim tomorrow morning. most probably the swim, if i happen to have the energy. let my mood decide, probably. ah yes i also have to do flag rising tomorrow morning. bummer, man.
better tuck in early tonight.
